President Muhammadu Buhari has told his party members that he will soon bring all speculations to an end by naming a Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) to lead the All Progressives Congress, APC, to victory in the February 2019 general elections. This is as he has described his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC as the party that will free Nigeria from corruption and poor governance.

The Ogun State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, has declared the party’s consensus candidate, Adekunle Akinkade, winner of a parallel primary conducted on Tuesday. The party chairman declared Akinlade winner while addressing journalists at the secretariat of the party  in Abeokuta on Wednesday. He said Akinlade, the consensus candidate of the Yewa Elders Council and the anointed candidate of the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, polled 190, 987 votes out of 201, 620 valid votes cast across the 236 wards in the state.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Wednesday called for the arrest and prosecution of Ahmed Gulak over his “ignoble” role in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship that led to the cancellation of the exercise. Gulak was the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Imo State but absconded after he rescheduled the primary which could not hold on the slated date, only to declare one of the governorship aspirants, Senator Hope Uzodinma as winner.

Hajiya Khadija Ibrahim, minister of state foreign Affairs, has defeated her step son Mohammed Ibrahim to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Damaturu/Gulani/Gujba/Tarmuwa, Yobe federal constituency. The Kano Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Wednesday accused the chairman of the Federal Government Renegotiating Team, Dr. Wale Babalakin of masterminding the collapse of the 2017-2018 renegotiation between ASUU and the Federal Government. 3 APC Delegates Die In Nasarawa

No fewer than three delegates reportedly died in a ghastly motor accident in Keana Local government area of Nasarawa State shortly after the just concluded All Progressive Congress governorship primary election in the state. The victims were supposed to meet with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in Obi LGA, in preparation for his senatorial ambition on Tuesday, but the meeting could not hold as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle conveying the delegates reportedly lost control when one of the rear tyres came off in Deddare area of Obi LGA.

 NSE All-Share Index Falls 0.79% on Lingering Negative Sentiments

The Nigeria bourse remained on the downbeat as negative sentiments lingers. At the close of trading Wednesday, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index shed 0.79 per cent to close lower 32,454.03. Similarly, market capitalisation lost N94.1 billion to close at N11.9 trillion. Although 15 stocks appreciated, compared with 14 that depreciated, the presence of bellwethers such as Dangote Cement Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc and FBN Holdings Plc among others led to the negative close.
