Trump campaign chairman Manafort resigns

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign chairman Paul Manafort has resigned, days after he was effectively demoted in a shake-up of the campaign leadership. His resignation also follows revelations about his work for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine.

It was reported on Thursday that Mr Manafort’s firm orchestrated a covert Washington lobbying operation on behalf of Ukraine’s then-ruling political party. Mr Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, failed to disclose their work as foreign agents as required under federal law.
