The biggest contemporary art exhibition in West Africa, Art X, took place from Friday, November 4 to Sunday, November 6, 2016, at the Civic Centre. The event, which was sponsored by 7UP, featured artworks from countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Mali, and Zimbabwe amongst others.
Notable guests at the event included new Mavin Records signee, Iyanya, Founder and Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, politician and pharmacist, Jimi Agbaje, media mogul, Mo Abudu, Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, musician and art head, Ade Bantu, Founder/CEO, Nike art Gallery, Chief (Mrs.) Nike Okundaye, Toni Kan, Ade Laoye, Do2dtun, Reni Folawiyo, Molara Wood, Keziah Jones, Denola Grey, Eunice Omole, Adebayo Oke-Lawal, Mr. 2Kay, Tomiwa Aladekomo, Molara Wood, Tolu Ogunlesi, Ronke Raji, Whitney Madueke, Yegwa Ukpo and more.
On the second day of the art fair, young aspiring artists who couldn’t get their works exhibited were handsomely rewarded by 7UP via the social media driven #MyArtX contest. Mubarak Kayode Ajide won the top prize of N50,000 cash and an exclusive VIP ticket to the event, while others won exclusive VIP tickets only.
Art X was rounded off on an incredible note with musicians Simi, Falana, Poe, Vector and Syndik8 prolific music producer, Ikon creating new music live, while being inspired by 4 young artists – Stacey Okparavero, Olatunde Alara, Yadichinma Kalu and Dricky Stickman.
