Adeboye: RCCG leader reveals how stint as boxer prepared him for success

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has admitted that he was once a boxer.

This was disclosed on Sunday, July 3, by the revered priest during the sermon he gave entitled; “Meant for the top” at the church’s regular Thanksgiving ceremony, which our correspondent saw.

The clergyman said it required a lot to become a champion, based on his experience as a boxer; even as he advised the audience to continue working hard to succeed while drawing closer to God.

Adeboye said, “I used to be a boxer.

“And, one of the things you learn as a boxer is that it takes a lot before you become a champion.”

Adeboye also noted that after becoming a champion, the work was just starting; adding that there would be so many people who wanted to take the position away from the champion; hence, the need to work harder than even the challengers.

“The moment you become a champion, you discover that you have just started the work.

“The champion works harder than the challenger because there are many people who want to take your position,” Adeboye said.
