Barely a fortnight to their opening game at the 2019 African Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles have played out a goalless draw with Zimbabwe in a build-up game.
The match, played under pouring rain at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, ushers in the final phase of preparations for the African championship.
Coach Gernot Rohr used the game as an opportunity to hand out useful game time to a number of fringe players as well as a few others who have not played regularly for their European clubs.

Villarreal youngster, Samuel Chukwueze, one of the team’s most exciting prospects, put in an eye-catching shift on the right flank for the team before he was substituted while Bourdeaux FC’s Samuel Kalu was also a constant threat from the left wing.
The game marked the return of former Chelsea stalwart, John Mikel Obi to the Super Eagles, with the experienced star displaying his usual cool composure at the base of the team’s midfield.
The Eagles are expected to take on the Teranga Lions of Senegal in another friendly in Egypt ahead of the AFCON.
