AIG Lakanu appointed Force secretary


The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Frederick Lakanu as the new Force Secretary and member of the Nigeria Police Force Management Team.



A statement yesterday from Police spokesman DCP Jimoh Moshood said the appointment takes immediate effect.

He said the new Force Secretary has taken over from AIG Abdul Bube. Bube retired from the Force on 31st December, 2018 after Thirty-Five (35) Years of service.

He said AIG Frederick Lakanu was born on October 12, 1959, in Lagos. He holds B.A. (Hons) Philosophy and LL.B. (Hons) from the University of Lagos and Master in Law from the Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds, United Kingdom.

Moshood said Lakanu has served as AIG Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Commissioner of Police in Imo and Ekiti States, Commissioner of Police Airport Command, Lagos, Principal Staff Officer to the IGP (Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos) among others.

He said until his recent appointment, he was the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja comprising the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger and Kaduna States.

Moshood said Lakanu has since assumed duty as the Force Secretary.
