Few days after the Nigerian army said it killed five top leaders of the Boko Haram sect, the  terror group suffered another major casualty, on Saturday, as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it had neutralised hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists in Garin Maloma area in Sambisa Forest.

Air Commodore Director of Public Relations and Information, Olatokunbo Adesanya, made this known in statement issued on Saturday.

The NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (iSR) platform had earlier sighted the insurgents, who were gathered under some trees. Read more

The Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘ A’ of Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 1,104cartons of fake pharmaceutical products, estimated at the Duty Paid Value, DPV, of over N12.1million, smuggled into the country without appropriate documents and permits from government, even as the Command swiftly arrested 16 suspects in connection with the offensive items. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has said the country’s oil industry is still lacking in sufficient transparency and trust.

Man kills lover, commits suicide in Ebonyi (Punch)

A middle-aged man, Mr. Friday Njoku, has committed suicide after he allegedly murdered his fiancée, Cynthia Nwofia, 25, over suspicion of infidelity in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

The late Nwofia was murdered at her Abakaliki residence around 11.30pm on Wednesday, while the alleged killer, Njoku, committed suicide by drinking poison on Thursday. Read more
