Ajimobi cuts political appointees ‘slush salaries’ by half

Governor Abiola Ajimobi has directed a 50 per cent cut in the monthly salaries and entitlements of all political appointees in the state. This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli while speaking with newsmen at the state secretariat, Ibadan yesterday.

The SSG further hinted that the adjustment in the take-home pay of the political appointees would take immediate effect. The All Progressives Congress led-government has been having a running battle with workers in the state in the payment of their salaries. The state government paid the workers last in April, which means they are being owed five months.

While explaining the reason for slashing the salaries, Alli said: “The slash in salary is for all political appointees starting from the Governor, Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Advisers, among others.” He said the decision to slash the salaries was taken in the last executive council meeting in the state.
