
Anambra state has recorded its first case of confirmed Coronavirus; bringing the total confirmed cases of the virus in Nigeria, meanwhile, to 305.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 17 new cases in the country on Friday, April 10, 2020.
The NCDC said eight of the new cases were recorded in Lagos, 3 in Katsina, 2 in Abuja; and one case each in Ondo; Niger; Kaduna and Anambra state.

1st News learnt that there are reported indications that the Covid-19 positive; index patient in Anambra State, came back from UK to Lagos; before the Airports were closed.
More so, he stayed in Lagos for a while, and was asymptomatic. He apparently developed symptoms during the lockdown. And somehow, he came into Anambra State from Lagos; despite the lockdown.
He was said to have visited Regina Caeli hospital, Awka and treated for malaria. After this, he was referred to St Joseph’s Hospital; Adazi Nnukwu where he tested positive for Covid-19.
1st News also learnt that health officials have picked him up and transferred to Onitsha General Hospital; for isolation/quarantine. Contact tracing has commenced. But some of his family members are said to have gone into hiding.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Lagos has now increased to 163; followed by Abuja with 56 cases.
While Niger and Anambra recorded their first cases; the total number of the cases in Kaduna has risen to 6.
As at 9:30 pm on Friday, April 10, 2020, Nigeria had recorded 305 confirmed cases of the virus with seven deaths. 58 patients have also been discharged.
Coronavirus cases have now spread to 19 states in Nigeria.
