APC calls for cancellation of results in Anambra, A’Ibom

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, on Sunday, called for cancellation of results of March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections due to alleged massive irregularities.

In a press conference by Chris Ngige, who was surrounded by the coordinator of APC Campaign Council in Anambra, Chima Okafor, Ngige said rigging of the election was so massive that APC has no choice than to request for three things. Read more

Oil giant Total sells Nigerian oil field stake for $569 mn

French oil giant Total said Monday that it has sold its stake in a Nigerian oil field to a local company for $569 million (523 million euros).

Total’s sale of its share in the onshore Oil Mining Lease 29 to Aiteo Eastern E&P comes after the French group made two similar divestments in Nigeria. The three transactions reached a sum of $1 billion. Read more

Police teargas APC women at Rivers INEC office

Some women belonging to the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State were on Monday morning teargased by policemen around the INEC headquarters on Aba Road after they tried to take their grievances over Saturday’s presidential elections in the state to the Commission’s office.

The women, donning black attires and led by House of Representatives candidate for Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Maureen Tamuno, came in several buses from various parts of the state as early as 8:30am to pour out their frustrations. Read more

Buhari sweeping to victory in Niger

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has opened up a massive lead in the presidential race in Niger State with results for 11 of the 25 local governments in the state announced.

So far, Buhari has 296,100 votes, while President Goodluck Jonathan has polled 74,784 votes. Read more

INEC officials kidnapped in Osun

Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola, has confirmed that an Electoral Officer for Ife-Central Local Government Council, (names withheld) was kidnapped by suspected political thugs believing to have been hired by peoples democratic Party (PDP).

He also stated that the result sheet of  Ife central was altered. Read more

Rivers APC seeks suspension of INEC REC 

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded the immediate suspension of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Gesila Khan, for colluding with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig last weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections in the State.

“For Mrs. Khan to have removed the INEC result sheets in all the polling units in the State with the intention of rigging the polls is a very serious criminal offence. Mrs. Khan should not only be suspended but should not be allowed to conduct the April 11 Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, as well as the Presidential and National Assembly elections when rescheduled,” the party said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya. PDP, APC at Each Other’s Throats over Manipulation of Election Results

Two days after Nigerians trooped out en masse to polling stations to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) flew at each other’s throats on Sunday, with the ruling PDP calling on the public to disregard the misleading results being circulated by the APC in the social media as official results of the presidential and National Assembly polls.

But in a swift response, the APC has warned against any attempt to tamper with the results of the elections, saying Nigerians voted peacefully and massively and know whom they voted for. Read more

Enugu APC Rejects Presidential, NASS Election as Jonathan Sweeps Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the entire result of the 2015 presidential and National Assembly elections  held last Saturday.

As at 8pm, Sunday, only three councils out of 17 local governments in the state had their presidential election results released. Read more

Dangote Cement Posts N159bn profit

Dangote Cement has recorded significant strides in its African expansion project as the cement company’s new plants in Senegal and Cameroun commenced operation the company has said.

Dangote Cement plants in Ethiopia and Zambia are expected to start production next month even as the company recorded a profit of N159 billion in the year ended December 2014, it added yesterday. Read more

UBA, Mansard Insurance, others lift NSE’s turnover by N24 billion

Heavy transactions in the shares of some banks and insurance companies, especially United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mansard Insurance, last week, lifted the volume of shares traded, as a turnover of 2.509 billion shares worth N24.115 billion were exchanged in 19,971 deals by investors on the floor of the Exchange.

This was in contrast to a total of 1.382 billion shares valued at N12.053 billion that changed hands in 16,877 deals during the preceding week. Read more

Australian government ‘leaked personal details of 31 leaders during G20’

The personal details of world leaders attending last year’s G20 summit in Australia were accidentally leaked to the organisers of a football tournament last year.

The data beach included data from 31 world leaders – among them Barack Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron – who were not informed of the breach. Read more

Germanwings crash: Search crews find DNA from 78 victims

Search crews have revealed they have found the DNA of 78 of the 150 victims on board the doomed Germanwings flight.

Investigators said they had found the distinct strands from body parts scattered around the crash site in the French Alps. Read more
