Atiku appoints Dino, Bwala as campaign spokespersons

Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 elections, has named Senator Dino Melaye and Dr. Daniel Bwala as his spokespersons for the next election.

The two appointments are effective immediately, according to a news release from Atiku’s Communications Adviser, Paul Ibe.

Melaye is a politician who served as the senator for Kogi West and member of the 8th Senate. He is a native of Ayetoro Gbede in the Kogi State municipality of Ijumu.

Dino is a member of the PDP. In 2015, he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, he returned to PDP in the buildup to 2019 elections after months of political struggle with the Kogi State governor. He was the Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. Also, he was briefly the Senate Committee Chairman on Aviation in Nigeria.

In response, Senator Dino Melaye wrote on Twitter; “I’m grateful to H:E, A A,GCON, Waziri Adamawa, presidential candidate of our party, (PDP), for appointing me spokesman of the Atiku/Okowa ticket. This for me is a humbling recognition and I pledge to justify the confidence reposed in me. Together, we shall reclaim our country.”

Bwala, on the other hand, is a legal practitioner, politician and public affairs analyst. He hails from Adamawa State. He recently defected to the (PDP) after his time as a former chieftain of the APC.

Mr Bwala announced his defection via his Twitter account on Friday.

According to him, the PDP presents a clearer vision for Nigeria; while stating that it is the only party that has realistic chances of wrestling power from the APC.

The tweet reads, “Today I officially joined @OfficialPDPNig for the following reasons; 1.PDP presents a clear vision for one Nigeria 2. PDP is the party with the realistic chance of defeating APC 3. Atiku is the only candidate with superior experience to lead Nigeria out of the woods.”
