Real Sociedad increased their chances of qualifying for the Champions League after Barcelona lost their first game after winning La Liga.
In the fifth minute, Sociedad struck when Mikel Merino finished from close range after being set up by Alexander Sorloth.
In the 72nd minute, Sorloth added a second goal to give the visitors a well-earned two-goal advantage.
Real Sociedad were actually closer to a third goal than Barcelona were to a comeback. Takefusa Kubo and Diego Rico had a couple more chances, but Ter Stegen made good saves.
In stoppage time, Robert Lewandowski scored to give the champions a chance to even the score. Robert Lewandowski’s right footed shot from outside the box was blocked, with that Barcelona all three-points to Sociedad.
