Beijing 2022 adjusts COVID-19 countermeasures, says IOC

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) via its website asserted on Monday; that COVID-19 countermeasures for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games have been refined following consultation with medical experts and the committee.


The measures have been amended in order to further adapt to the reality of the current environment; as well as to support all participants at the Games.

However, IOC president Bach confident of safe, secure Beijing 2022.


“We are looking forward to successful Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022…We have great confidence built on our experience that we will stage safe and secure Olympic Winter Games for everybody,” Bach said.


The IOC chief highlighted Beijing as the first city ever to host both summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games; even as he acknowledged China’s effort to engage 300 million people in winter sports.


“These Winter Games will open a new era for winter sports globally,” read the message.


Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has offered an enterprising teenager $5,000 to remove a Twitter bot tracking the movements of his private plane.


The billionaire reached out to the 19-year-old Jack Sweeney last November; expressing concern about a Twitter account he runs called @ElonJet; which provides regular updates on flights of well-known figures by using publicly available data.


Musk offered Jack $5,000 (Rs 3.75 lakhs) to stop tweeting about his jets.


However, Jack turned down Musk’s offer and instead demanded $50,000 (Rs 37.55 lakhs), saying that the amount would cover his college fees and also help him buy a Tesla car, according to Protocol.
