Osun Police nab wanted cultist Oko’lu
About 5 months after he was declared wanted, the Osun State Police Command in the early hours of Sunday arrested a suspected cultist, Rasheed Hammed, popularly known as Rasidi Oko’lu.
Reliable security sources told newsmen that Oko’lu was arrested in his hideout in Osogbo, Osun State capital
Equally important, he was nabbed around 4 am by men of the Anti-Cultism Unit of Osun Police Command.

Specifically, Oko’lu was declared wanted in March by the police after allegedly causing the death of a Higher National Diploma graduate of Banking and Finance of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, awaiting his call-up letter; as well as a commercial motorcyclist, whose identities were not made known during a fight in Ede.
Osun Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the development to newsmen.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr Olawale Olokode, has ordered the immediate disbandment of his Surveillance Squad; citing unprofessional conduct by its members.

The Police Spokesperson in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola, made this known in Osogbo; specifically in a statement issued on Sunday.

“The dissolution is with immediate effect…All personnel attached to the squad are to report to the State Headquarters for redeployment.

Serve as deterrent

“Investigations have commenced at the State’s Criminal Investigation Department over complaints of unprofessional conduct exhibited by personnel of the squad,’’ she stated.

Opalola stated also that the disbandment would serve as a deterrent to other tactical squads; adding that the Command, under Olokode would not tolerate or condone any act unbecoming of police officers.

In the statement, Olokode enjoined Osun residents to rekindle their trust in the command; saying they were committed to giving the state improved services that would stand the test of time.

Osun State has witnessed an upsurge of crime.
