Premier League giants, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly chasing Super Eagles speed-star, Samuel Chukwueze. Chukwueze, a star of La Liga side, Villareal, has developed into a key player for the team. Also, he has featured in 19 of their 23 league games this season.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles star was strongly linked with a £30million move to Liverpool during the recent January transfer window. Therefore, the Reds are expected to revive their interest in the summer. However, reports in the British media claim that Liverpool will face competition from domestic rivals Chelsea and Man City; who are also interested in striking a deal for Chukwueze.
In addition to catching the eye at Villarreal; Chukwueze has also become a regular for the Nigerian national team – the Super Eagles and is valued at around £60million. Liverpool only bolstered Jurgen Klopp’s squad with the signing of Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg in January. They are expected to sign two or three players this summer.
Despite getting their transfer ban lifted, Chelsea did not complete a single deal last month; leaving manager Frank Lampard frustrated and concerned for the rest of the campaign.
Super Eagles’ star, Chukwueze has been one of best young players in Europe
City were another club who were quiet during the January transfer window. However, the defending champions are expected to oversee another spending spree at the end of the season. The outlay is expected to help close the gap on Liverpool. The Anfield side are 22 points clear of Manchester City with 13 matches of the 2019-20 campaign remaining.
On the other hand, Chelsea are also further back in fourth place.
Chukwueze shone like a million stars at the African Cup of Nations held in Algeria in 2019. The speedy winger has been one of the most eye-catching recent additions to the Super Eagles by coach, Gernot Rohr. His mazy runs from the left and quick feet have drawn comparisons with former international, Emmanuel Amuneke; a legend of the Nigerian side.
