CORA BOOK TREK HOSTS AKEEM LASISI

AKEEM_LASISIAward winning writer and performance poet, Akeem Lasisi will be hosted at an event organized by The Committee for Relevant Arts (CORA) on Sunday, September 1, 2014.

This event will be the third in CORA’s Book Trek series as part of programmes to foreshadow the 15th Lagos Book & Art Festival which will take place between November 14 and 16, 2014.

The event will feature poetry reading and spoken word/folklore performances and will take place at Esther’s Revenge VIP Lounge, Freedom Park, Lagos at 5pm.

The Lagos Book and Art Festival (LABAF) is CORA’s annual culture picnic with a heavy book content and is a testament to the commitment of CORA that the only way to translate the ‘teeming’ population of Nigeria into a true human resource is to develop their mind. It is an international event with participants drawn from scholars, writers, artists and journalists from all over the world.

Akeem Lasisi is a journalist, and double winner of the ANA/CADBURY prize for poetry. His books include ‘IREMOJE: Ritual Poetry for Ken Saro-Wiwa’ and ‘Night of my Flights’.
