It’s a strange time to be bringing new life into the world amid unprecedented lockdowns; as well as so much uncertainty during the coronavirus crisis.
But two new parents have chosen for their child to act as a reminder of the time – and the safety measures we are using in an attempt to stay safe.
With people being urged to keep their hands clean to reduce the rate of transmission; the pair decided to call their child Sanitiser.
According to the parents, they chose the name as the disinfectant has the capacity to fight against the virus. They added that medical staff were left smiling when they announced what they were going to call their child.
“Whenever people will talk of corona, they will remember that it was sanitiser that saved them,” said dad Omvir Singh, from Saharanpur in India, as reported by Kidspot.
“Everyone is fighting against this virus, from our prime minister to ordinary people. This is our contribution.”
They aren’t the first parents to give their child a name associated with coronavirus, after a mum gave birth to twins in lockdown and named them ‘Corona’ and ‘Covid‘.
Preeti Verma said the names of her little boy and girl would remind her of exactly what was happening during the week of their birth.
She said: “Indeed the virus is dangerous and life-threatening but its outbreak made people focus on sanitation, hygiene and inculcate other good habits.
“Thus, we thought about these names.”
Preeti, from Chhattisgarh, central India, said the birth of her children means the time of the pandemic. It also comes with some happy memories for her as a mother.
But admitted that she may change the names of her twins when they grow up.
