COVID-19: 5 Challenges to participate in online

It is no longer news that the COVID-19 pandemic has forced everyone to stay-at-home. Since the virus experienced diffusion across the world, social media has been the only medium to find entertainment.

There have been no sports activities neither have artistes been able to record new songs. One of the predominant methodologies of curbing the virus is to practice social distancing and stay in your house.

On Sunday, March 29, President Buhari ordered a cessation of movement and closure of businesses in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun in the face of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeping across the world and the country.

Buhari had said; “Based on the advice of the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC, I am directing the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT (Abuja) for an initial period of 14 days with effect from 11 pm on Monday, 30th March 2020. This restriction will also apply to Ogun State due to its close proximity to Lagos and the high traffic between the two states.

“All citizens in these areas are to stay in their homes. Travel to or from other states should be postponed. All businesses and offices within these locations should be fully closed during this period.”

What does this mean to the Nigerian youth?

Nigerian youths need to understand that it is time to find something creative and interesting to do. Meanwhile, some companies have encouraged their employees to continue working from home. The only problem is the irregular power supply.

The Power Holding Company (PHCN), have a knack for instigating disappointment. On social media, several citizens of the country have nagged about the poor power supply and rapid consumption of data from telecommunication companies.

While PHCN is making life tedious and everything is becoming banal, there are activities to engage in on social media to while away time. At this time, it is quintessential to create your own fun and use your leisure time seriously.

There are numerous activities that you can engage in during the compulsory stay-at-home exercise. Contact your friends and prepare to join the bandwagon of folks across the globe fabricating their own happiness. Endeavour not to take yourself too seriously.

See five of them below.

1. Bop Daddy Challenge

The #BopDaddyChallenge was propagated by Nigerian recording artiste, Falz to promote his song, ‘Bop Daddy’. It’s easy to create, all you need is a camera and a good fashion sense. Wear what is available in your wardrobe, get a hairbrush and bop!

You don’t need to be a dandy, stay easy and style yourself up.

2. Don’t Rush Challenge

3. Naked Challenge

This is the most controversial of the various social media challenge. The #NakedChallenge is designated for couples who are cohabiting. If you are single and reside with your parents, this is futile and not for you. Stay within your lane. Engage in the aforementioned activities or the latter ones.

4. Push Up Challenge

The #PushUpChallenge is not only for fitness buffs, but it is also for everyone, every human on God’s planet. Everyone deserves to be healthy, burn some calories and resume your daily grind more physically attractive after this pandemic ends.

When your friend challenges you online, don’t decline, adhere to their dare and stretch their physicality beyond your limits.

5. Anonymous Message Challenge

This is the most personal amongst all the five challenges. The Anonymous Message Challenge gives people who are scared to confront you a chance to speak to you surreptitiously. Perhaps someone on your WhatsApp finds you attractive and you are dead single. Put up the link and let people say what they think about you.

After the COVID-19 lockdown is over, everyone should come out of their closet more creative and should endeavour to build a healthier self-esteem.
