COVID-19: LASG debunks curfew order as disinfection exercise starts today

Contrary to the initial plan of imposing a dusk to dawn curfew in Lagos state; to enable adequate prevention of the deadly Coronavirus  spreading gradually in the state; the Lagos State Government says the imposed restriction of movement will no longer hold.

The state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu took to the official Twitter page to make the announcement.

He said that, “I have dropped the idea of imposing a curfew in the state meant to allow the fumigation exercise of public space.
Relying on experts advice, the Governor also said the disinfectant is non toxic; noting that the exercise has commenced.”

The governor also said that if there would be curfew; the government will not hesitate to execute it.

“The Governor also said during a live press conference that if there is a need for curfew; government will not hesitate to impose it.
For now, everything remains the way they are.”

 

Sanwo-Olu noted that the fumigation exercise would commence today at all major highways, bus stops, markets, parks as well as other public areas.

He said: “I am pleased to note that we have taken possession of over 200 disinfecting machines, and starting today, we will be disinfecting all major highways, bus stops, markets, parks and other public areas”
