
Davido is one of the head honchos in the Nigerian entertainment music industry. He has played a quintessential role in promoting the Afrobeats scene, both as a music genre and a culture.
Referred to as Omobaba Olowo, OBO which translates to son of a wealthy man, Davido born David Adeleke is the son of Adedeji Adeleke.
Importantly, Adedeji Adeleke is a Nigerian billionaire, business magnate, founder, and president of Adeleke University. He is also the CEO of Pacific Holdings Limited.
Davido is the last of five children; he was born in Atlanta, the USA where he developed an interest in music and the entertainment business.
At the tender age of 18, Davido returned to Nigeria to commence his legendary journey.
A year later, he released ‘Back when’ in 2011 featuring rapper, Naeto C.
The single announced Davido as one of the promising youngsters in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

His breakthrough emerged towards the end of 2011 when he released the smash hit, ‘Dami Duro’. The single saw Davido become one of the bestselling youngsters in Africa at the time, the singer was only 19.
Following the fascinating success of ‘Dami Duro’, the teenager was identified as one of the poster boys for promoting the Afrobeats culture and lifestyle alongside Wizkid and other legends.
In 2012, Davido released his debut studio album titled; ‘Omo Babalowo (OBO), an allusion to the pseudonym of the youngster at the time.
At the end of the year, he was honoured with the award for the Next Rated Artiste at the 2012 Headies Award ceremony. This served as the first major award that the singer won.
Today, he is one of the most decorated artistes to emerge from the Nigerian music scene.
Equally important, Davido has since released two more studio albums, titled- A Good Time (2019) and A Better Time (2020).
