Dear Thinkers and Intellectuals, I hail by Abiodun Kuforiji Nkwocha

Dear thinkers, intellectuals, social media geniuses and all types of experts at knowing for all. I realize that it is heavy role that has been bestowed on you by God… oops most of you don’t believe in God so who shall I say gave you this role…ehm ehm ok let me go again. I realize that it is a heavy role bestowed on you by… yourself? (That should be accurate since you do not believe in what you can’t see, so we shall assume that what you know and believe in is you). They usually say uneasy is the head that wears the crown, but it does not apply to you guys. Your heads are quite big enough to carry this crown you placed on it. I mean this in a complimentary way. You have large brains that make it easy for you to know all, hence the equally large heads that house them.thinker

I really wish I was part of your clique. It must be fun to have the choicest seat in heaven… oops there I go again… in the clouds is better I think. You have the choicest seat that gives you a view that is indisputably the best. You truly have the only valid vantage point that we lesser mortals cannot but accept that you have the final say at what is or isn’t. What does it feel like waking up in the morning and understanding every little thing that happens and being there at every social media, print media, audio and visual media junction explaining things to the thick masses? It would be exhausting for me but for you, only God (I need to stop using God to explain anything about you guys) or yourselves can explain where the energy comes from.

“Nigerians are so foolish”, “I don’t understand how people don’t get it” “Google is your friend, look it up sometime” “I just cant…. With all the stupidity on my timeline” “Is it only me that is finding it hard to bear such ignorance” “Not every time watch nollywood, sometimes read book” Your arsenal of artillery to aim, shoot and destroy inane (and by that I mean divergent) views would shame the most sophisticated armory that ever existed. “The bible is so dated and the translations flawed, it is a tool for colonization and oppression….” Is an example of what you would say. I totally would get it if you were bold enough to speak so liberally about the Quran… You go ahead to attack, destroy and mock the things that people believe with so much venom. So we should throw away all we believe and follow you guys, right? Your words are set in stone, they are the ‘holy grail’, and we should abandon all reason and thought to take your word for it abi? Why should we abandon someone that promises us an afterlife in heaven for ehm ehm… what is it again you guys are offering as an alternative?

There is an argument or a trending topic and everyone is contributing their two cents to the matter till one of you shows up. You carry the virtual ‘koboko’ and tongue/word lash every other person that has an audacity to voice an opinion. Sometimes I think that it upsets you that people dare to have opinions… God or the big bang should have bestowed the ability to think on just a few of you so that you wouldn’t have to wade through thick weeds of foolishness in the sea of public discourses.

My initial thought was to suggest that you guys should hang around only each other so that you don’t have to bear our nonsense but truth be told, una no like to share spotlight. You need us to fill up the seats in the theatre and loudly cheer as you pick on hecklers and proceed to disseminate them.

So this is my advice, pretend to be respectful once in a while. Respectful of the beliefs of other people. I know that our collective ignorance has a way of stirring up the bile in your stomach and pushing it to your throat in such a way that it makes you want to throw up. My advice is for you to breathe deeply and stay calm. Ignorance can only kill the ignorant. Being tolerant of divergent views on the other hand can actually be a life saver. What is a pearl to us maybe just a pebble to you, snicker at what we cherish but don’t try to snatch them from our hands and throw them in a garbage heap. That would make you a bully and us the victims.

Who did I write this for…. I wonder

You just spoke my mind. I actually had some persons on my friend list in mind when I read this. Everybody else is foolish apart from them; especially if u say you believe in God. They really need to read this!
