Defection: House member returns to APC few months after decamping to PDP

The member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State, Dickson Tarkihir, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected back to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection of Tarkihir was announced by the Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf, on the floor of the green chamber on Tuesday, January 22.

According to Tarkihir’s letter read by the Deputy Speaker, the reasons given by the lawmaker on why he left the APC in the first place was due to the herders/farmers clashes in the state but with the efforts of the Federal Government at handling the situation, it was best for him to go back to the party.

Tarkihir who was elected on the platform of the APC in 2015 defected to the PDP in the last quarter of 2018 although he had contested primary on the platform of the PDP but lost to Bem Mzondu.
