British-born Nollywood actress, Dorcas Shola-Fapson has appeared in a short play titled ‘I Got A Flower Today’ featuring Ghanaian actor, Mawuli Gavor.
The theme of the play made emphasis on the issue of domestic violence and the struggle of attaining relevance in a relationship.
Mawuli who played the role of Dorcas’ partner in the skit was seen beating her several times and always seeking a truce by purchasing a ‘flower’ for her.
The man continued to beat her for numerous reasons. First, he dealt with her for refusing his sexual advances, then he beat her up whenever an argument occurs.
According to the poet, she remained in the relationship despite the turbulence and violence that was ongoing in their affair.

“‘I Got Flowers Today’
Is poem by Paulette Kelly that I read years ago.. I decided to develop & adapt it for screen as it’s such an important message that hits home… I know victims of abuse that choose to stay, for several reasons… I’m not here to judge, cause it’s hard. I know, but I need you to understand that NO reason is worth your life.
Even if this touches just ONE person I’m happy af!!!!
