
Dowen College has existed for years but the school recently got in the news for the wrong reasons.

Dowen College is a co-education college located in Lekki, a suburb of Lagos. The college takes both boarding as well as day pupils; while also admitting students between the age of 11–18 years.
The death of a 12-year-old student Sylvester Oromoni who was bullied and also beaten to death has gotten the school to trend for days; but Nigerians seek justice for the death of the boy with the tag #JusticeForSylvesterOromoni.

1. Chief Olumide Philips is the founder of Dowen College school. He is a member of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina.
2. Nigerian singer Lami Philips is the Director of students and External Affairs of the school.
3. Dowen College was founded on October 6, 1997.
4. In 2010, Wizkid’s music video ‘Holla at your boy’ was shot at the school.
5. Dowen College is one of the most expensive schools in Lagos.

Sylvester’s father remains insistent on justice for his son.
He believes the school authorities are involved in a cover-up and is also imploring the help of the government; specifically in leaving no stones unturned until someone provides actual information about the senseless death of his son.
The family celebrated Sylvester’s posthumous birthday only a few days after his demise.
