Canadian superstar Drake was in attendance as sportswear manufacturing giant, Nike unveiled the new Super Eagles jersey designs. The designs were unveiled at Nike’s 2020 Forum in New York on Wednesday, February 5th ahead of New York Fashion Week.
Drake, a Grammy Award-winning rapper, was one of the superstars in attendance at the event; as Nike showed off the new Nigerian kit design. Pictures of the superstar artiste seated at the front row of the Nike 2020 Forum in New York; was shared across social media and especially Instagram in the aftermath of the event.
Meanwhile, Drake was joined by DJ Virgil Abloh, a 33-year-old Ghanaian fashion designer and artiste at the runway show. Specifically, the runway show was held at the Shed venue in Hudson Yards.

Nike has announced the new ‘Swoosh’ design for the Nigerian national team jerseys. In addition, Nike also unveiled new kits for South Korea and the United States national teams. Furthermore, it announced that new kit designs for other countries are set to be released in the coming months.
Meanwhile, the new jersey designs have divided opinion among Nigerians on social media.
The designs, which follow in the footsteps of Nike’s celebrated ‘Naija’ collection used at the 2018 FIFA World Cup; are infused with elements of Nigerian fashion and art including the local agbada wear.
Additionally, Nike also revealed that the kits are only one element of a broader collection of Super Eagles outfits. It noted that fans of the team can also buy a vest, a dress or even a poncho with Nigerian design element.
As a matter of fact, the previous jersey design used at the World Cup was a masterstroke. The Nigerian kit design captured the imagination of the football world.
