
The surprising defection of Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is causing a mini-storm within the ranks of the Presidency.
1st News can report that the development has attracted a strong reaction from Babafemi Ojudu, an aide of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ojudu is the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Political Matters. 1st News reports that Ojudu had pulled no punches in describing the defection of Fani-Kayode to the party as a bitter pill to swallow.
Specifically, the aide had stated that the former Minister’s defection is the saddest day of his political career. He made this known in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
“This is the saddest day of my political career,” Ojudu had written.
In addition, he had published a comment attributed to Fani-Kayode; in which the former PDP man had vowed that he would rather die than to join the APC. The statement was made back in 2019.

On Thursday, however, Fani-Kayode was welcomed to the APC by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
Meanwhile,1st News can report that Ojudu’s reaction is not the only critical one by an aide of President Buhari. Tolu Ogunlesi, another aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, had also mocked Fani-Kayode in a post on the social media platform, Facebook.
Ogunlesi, Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media, had posted pictures of FFK; alongside Buhari during his reception at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, September, 16, 2021. However, the aide to the President had not failed to take a dig at Fani-Kayode; describing as a somebody.
In addition, Ogunlesi had hailed President Buhari’s large-heartedness in welcoming Fani-Kayode to the APC fold.
“Today at the State House, Abuja: Somebody has come and joined the APC. And a large-hearted and magnanimous President received him. Because that’s the essential Buhari for you,” Ogunlesi wrote.
