Fani-Kayode reveals some persons are using Zamfara to create chaos in Nigeria

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has called on Nigerians to unite against the foreign elements that are bent on destabilising the country, especially in Zamfara State.

This call by Fani-Kayode was made known on Monday, January 17, through a statement issued by the Director of Press to Zamfara Governor, Jamilu Illiyasu, in Gusau.

According to the former Minister, some people were using the state and the entire North-West zone as a killing field to prove to the world that Nigeria was ungovernable, divided and that things were not right in the country.

He also commiserated with the Zamfara State Government; over the killing of 58 citizens in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the state.

Fani-Kayode described the killing as a tragedy of monumental proportion; and commended the efforts of Gov. Bello Matawalle in the ongoing fight against banditry and other crimes in the state.

He, therefore, urged the Federal Government to fish out sponsors of banditry; and other individuals inflating casualty figures.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has mandated that any attack on the Agodi Medium Security Correctional Centre, Ibadan must be resisted with maximum force without sparing the attackers.

Aregbesola issued this mandate on Monday, January 17; while addressing officers at the correctional centre during a tour of the facility.

He also ordered the immediate demolition of all the shops and buildings; around the correctional facility in the Oyo State capital, to ensure maximum security of the centre.

“All buildings or shops built within 50 metres from the fence of Agodi medium correctional facility; must be demolished with immediate effect,” he said.

”This is a dangerous zone for those who are not invited. Whoever attempts to breach this facility for whatever reason is already dead; he must not live to tell the story, somebody else must tell the story.”
