Gas explosion at Four Point Sheraton leaves several injured, cars damaged

At least, three people have been severely injured in a gas explosion which occurred on Wednesday, December 4; at the popular Four Point By Sheraton Hotel at Oniru Victoria Island in Lagos.

It was reported by eyewitnesses at Four Point that the cause of the explosion; was due to leakage from one of the hoses linked to a gas cylinder; used by welders working in the yard of Four Point.

This was further confirmed by the Director-General; Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu.

He stated, “The situation is under control as a combined effort of the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU); Nigeria Police alongside the staff of the hotel are on ground to ensure a swift recovery.

“A total of three people sustained severe injuries as a result of the blast; and two have been rushed to Lagos Island General hospital for intensive care by LASEMA Ambulance Unit; while one was rushed to a nearby private hospital”.
