The New Year of 2019 is yet to enter the second week and the mundanely predictable already happened: a litany of doom-and-gloom prophecies by clergymen who seems to be vying for the award of “who has the most outlandish prophecy of 2019?” with their flock willing to swallow everything without question.
The mood in the country is on edge with a lot of political observers worried ahead of the 2019 elections but the gloomy prognostications by these men of God have done nothing to douse the tension in the land.
But what I find amusing is the fact that most of these prophecies are so vague it reads like events drawn out of a hat with the faint hope of hitting bull’s eye; a win-win situation for the clergymen whether the predictions come to pass or not.

Talking of vague, one can’t find a more poignant instance than the prophecy of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who released different prophecies tailored for foreign countries and for Nigeria.
Adeboye’s prophecy for Nigeria was an excerpt from the Holy Bible (Lamentations 3:22-23 King James Version) which reads, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.
“They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Riddle me this but how exactly is the above passage of the Bible a prophecy? It reads more like a watchword/prayer point during a weekly Bible study session.
Maybe I am to slow to decipher it but this ‘prophecy’ falls under the category of vague statements I wrote about earlier in this article.
But things are about to take a very grisly turn with the predictions of this next clergyman.
Father Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, is no stranger to controversies, with the Reverend embroiled in an altercation with the Catholic hierarchy due to his faux pas when the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi came to his diocese during an end-of-the-year bazaar.
Mbaka warned Nigerians to pray hard to overcome what he tagged ‘impending unimaginable difficulty’ in 2019.
The Reverend also stated that the type of difficulty the country was going to face was such that has not been ‘witnessed in its 58 years history.’
If what Nigerians are currently experiencing due to the flailing economic situation of the country isn’t ‘unimaginably difficult’ enough, I wonder what is; maybe something akin to a civil war.
And what exactly have Nigerians not witnessed in our nascent history? This is exactly my grouse with imprecise prophecies but I understand what the man of God did; a classic game of reverse psychology which keeps the docile congregation coming back for more.
The most audacious (I actually admire his chutzpah) clergy is Pastor Johnson Suleiman, the President of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide who actually itemized his 50 prophecies (thank God these ones are anything but vague); hinge your bets, people.
How does one prune 50 prophecies in order to zero on the most relevant ones? I’d have an attempt.
Suleiman’s prophecies read, “2019 Nigeria election- 100% rigged.
“I see internet fraudsters, new ritualistic ways of making money (blood hunt).
“Donald Trump to lose 2nd term.”
The aforementioned three really caught my attention due to their relevance to topical happenings with the approaching elections.
It is an open secret that elections in Nigeria are always an issue of who can ‘outrig’ who, so someone should kindly analyze how this statement is a prophecy.
The coming election season may see a proliferation in the number of ritual killings in the country with politicians seeking to secure their political futures by any possible means.
If the third prophecy comes to pass, methinks the world will breathe easy, especially with Donald Trump proving to be the most divisive President of the United States in recent history.
On the issue of the 2019 elections, the Leader and Founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ejigbo Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele, prophesied, “I said it the other time and I still maintain it, if PDP had given the ticket to Bukola Saraki, they will win because it’s only Saraki that can unseat Buhari but PDP stakeholders have not done what they are supposed to do.
“I said it in 2015 that Jonathan may be the last president from PDP. I’m still standing on it unless they take a quick step and that is for Atiku and Saraki to do the right thing.
“If only they will do the right thing, that is only when PDP can win. For now, I’m only seeing Atiku and Saraki playing.”
However, Ayodele inserted a disclaimer when he said his prophecies are not 100 percent accurate because prayers can change things, noting, however, that 95 percent of his prophecies have come to pass.

A religion-centric populace who view every little problem via the lens of the spiritual has emboldened these clergymen who dish out intermittent ridiculousness to the chagrin of the more enlightened one.
The big question following all these predictions remains: is God an author of confusion?
am really surprise sometimes when peoples are quoting the bible to support some prophesies that are really grotesquely inaccurate, prophesy to me did not brings about ‘the word ‘if” i think it only being spoken by those who didn’t know their God. God is not an author of confusion is either you know Him or you did not know the person you are talking about or that you are witnessing for. you need to study the Bible very well and see those that had given prophesies in one way or the other and compare to what you are given out or called prophesy today, thanks.
