Gospel music veteran Sammie Okposo has passed away.
His project manager, Hillary Vincent, confirmed that the singer passed away on Friday morning.
According to unverified online sources, the musician allegedly slumped before being declared dead.
Early this year, the musician was at the centre of a controversy where he was accused of infidelity. He apologized to his wife for being unfaithful after a woman confessed to having an affair with him. The woman, who only went by the name African Doll, had accused him of impregnating and abandoning her.
The performer informed his audience that he would be taking a break from his ministry in order to concentrate on healing and seeking forgiveness.
He withdrew from public settings during the heated discussion about the suspected infidelity by deactivating his social media accounts, but he eventually reappeared.
Sammie Okposo was also a music producer, psalmist, and CEO of Zamar Entertainment. He released his first album Addicted in 2004.
He also bagged multiple awards including KORA Best Gospel Artiste in Africa (2006), Afro Hollywood UK Best Gospel Artiste (2005), NEA Best Artiste of the Year (2007 & 2013), and NMA Best Contemporary Gospel Artiste, among others.
