Gunmen kidnap Benue Commissioner, in-law

Suspected gunmen on Sunday allegedly kidnapped the Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Ekpe Ogbu.

 

He was kidnapped alongside Honourable Agbo Ode, one of his in-laws and the driver.

 

 

It was; gathered that they were; kidnapped along David Marks Farm, after Akpa Otobi while on their way from Otukpo to Utonkon in the Ado Local Government Area of the state.

The commissioner was said to have attended a Church programme, where Senator Abba Moro; representing Benue South Senatorial district, dedicated his newly inaugurated Campaign Council to God. The session was held at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Otukpo. He was going to his village in NDEKMA, Utonkon District of Ado LGA after the Church programme; before meeting the unfortunate incident at about 8:45 pm on Sunday, 4th December 2022.

 

 

His official vehicle had since been recovered from the scene and taken to the Divisional Police office in Otukpo.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has condemned the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for saying that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has done nothing for Nigerians in the last eight years.

 

The condemnation came from the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

 

He spoke on Monday at the 7th edition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023). The series was launched in October to showcase the achievements of the current administration. Before now, six Ministers have presented their scorecards including Ministers of Works and Housing, Transportation, Aviation, Interior, Agriculture and Rural Development; as well as Finance, Budget and National Planning.

 

However, before the Minister of Water Resources gave his scorecard, the coordinator of the series and Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, decried what he called “increasing tendency by some opposition presidential candidates to downplay the achievements of Buhari’s administration.”
