Scent leaf is a homegrown plant, it’s botanical name ocimum gratissimum and locally called Efinrin by Yorubas, daidoya by Hausas and nchawu by Igbos.

 

This sweet-smelling leaf is used mainly as a spice due to its aromatic taste and the flavor that it adds to meals. It’s enriched with calcium, phosphorus, carbon, iron and vitamin A.

 

It has a distinctive smell and taste. You can make use of scent leaves in anyway, you can squeeze out the water and drink,  it can also be used to make soup to be eaten and it can be used as vegetable.
