Incredible! Controversial Oluwo weds Princess in absentia

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, is set to take a new wife in Kano State on Saturday, March 19, 2022.

Invitation to the ceremony indicated that Oba Akanbi would wed Princess Firdauz Abdullahi at the residence of the Madakin Kano, Yola Quarters, Kano.

After the wedding, a reception strictly for ladies will hold at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero.

Oluwo’s spokesman, Alli Ibrahim, confirmed the ‘Royal Wedding’, adding that preparation for the event was going well.

Oluwo might not be in Kano

Ibrahim, however, said because of his position as a paramount ruler, the Oluwo might not be in Kano for the wedding.

“Baba is not likely to be there (in Kano) as a paramount ruler. They will bring the wife to him in Iwo. There is no cause for alarm”.

The Oluwo’s last marriage to a Jamaican, Chanel Chin, which produced a son, crashed in December 2019.

Since then, the monarch has not been openly associated with any woman.

However, before the official invitation was released, a letter had surfaced, where Oba Akanbi had reportedly solicited financial assistance from the Osun State Government, towards the wedding.

The palace, however, dismissed the letter, saying it did not emanate from the monarch.

Meanwhile, Oba Akanbi will build shelters for widows and orphans.

According to a release from the palace, the Oluwo will also empower the indigent people of the kingdom.

However, the royal wedding is blighted by the threat by traditionalists; who have vowed to march on Iwo during the ceremony.

Oba Akanbi has been accused of childish behaviors. The monarch has however denied such allegations.

Dignitaries all over Nigeria will grace the royal wedding.
