Indigestion: Home remedies

 

Indigestion is such a bad feeling. It can be uncomfortable and painful.

 

To avoid cases of indigestion it’s important to be mindful of what you consume and how much you are consuming.

 

Overeating is one of the courses of indigestion so be mindful of your portions. You can always save the rest for later.

 

Including enough fiber in your diet is a great way to avoid indigestion. Vegetables, fruits and whole grains provide the fiber we need for digestion.

 

Drinking enough water is also a great way to avoid cases of indigestion. Try taking eight glasses of water and eat a balanced diet.

 

Even with all that said and done, indigestion may happen even after taking precaution and doing everything right so don’t be too hard on yourself if it does.

 

 

Homemade digestives that relieves indigestion.

 

Ginger

You can make ginger tea by boiling a piece of ginger root or a tablespoon of ginger powder and drink the water.

Ginger has antacid properties which will help reduce the acid reflux and aid in digestion.

 

 

Lemon water

We consume lemon juice for a couple of reasons like losing weight, detoxification etc. But lemon is also a great digestive aid when experiencing indigestion.

You can add the extracted lemon juice to a glass of hot water and directly consume or add it to a mixture of two teaspoons of baking soda and water. This should be easy to make and a quick fix.

 

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is well known for its weight loss benefits as well as its benefits in aiding digestion. It helps reduce the acid reflux in the stomach.

For this mix two spoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and drink. If the taste bothers you, you can add lemon juice to make it more palatable.

Chamomile tea

Chamomile tea is not only good for calming you down but it also has its digestive benefits. Drinking chamomile tea will help aid in digestion and also calm your tummy.

 

Hot water

This is the oldest trick in the book. Water is a great way to avoid indigestion but hot water aids in neutralizing the excessive acid in the stomach that causes indigestion. What makes it perfect is the fact that it’s simple, convenient and readily available. All you need is a cup of hot water and you will be fine.

 

Baking soda

Yes, baking soda actually is a great antacid when consumed in the correct quantities. Mix two teaspoons of baking soda in a glass of warm water and drink.

This is a quick way to get you to pass out gas and aid you to use the bathroom which will help relieve the indigestion. Side note, it’s not the best taste but it works.

 

Peppermint

Peppermint is known for its numerous advantages from skincare, hair use and health.

It contains antacid properties that will relieve the acid influx thus reducing the amount of acid produced during digestion. For this you just need a peppermint tea bag and make a soothing cup of tea.
