The Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Bello Masari has lamented the security challenges bedevilling the state which has led to the populace living under the fear of a siege.
Masari said the situation is further exacerbated by the activities of suspected gunmen who attack and kidnap innocent residents under the guise of cattle rustling.
The governor spoke at the start of a crucial meeting of security chiefs, traditional rulers and acting chairman of local governments among others critical stakeholders held at the presidential banquet hall, Government House, Katsina, revealed that intelligence reports available indicated growing cases of the menace of suspected bandits.
He also explained that proactive measures have to be taken in order to stem the tide of security threats facing the state which shares a border with various troubled communities in Zamfara state.
He maintained that the prevailing situation was a serious threat to the survival of the people of the state, adding that it is the responsibility of government and those steering the security apparatus to protect the lives and property of all.
Masari stressed the need for collective efforts amongst stakeholders towards redressing the challenges for the improved socio-economic activities in the state.
He equally solicited continuous prayers for God‘s intervention to overcome the security challenges facing the state and the nation.
