Kaduna Govt announces murder of two more varsity students by kidnappers

The Kaduna State Government, said bandits have killed two more students of Greenfield University Kaduna, who were abducted on Tuesday.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan said in a statement issued on Monday, April 26, in Kaduna.

Aruwan said, “On a sad note, security agencies have just reported to the Kaduna State Government; the recovery of two more dead bodies of Greenfield University students, killed by armed bandits today, Monday 26th April.

“The retrieved corpses have been evacuated to a mortuary; and the university has been notified of the development.

“The Government of Kaduna State under the leadership of Malam Nasir El-Rufai is saddened by this evil perpetrated against innocent students abducted while pursuing their education for a glorious future.

“The Government sends its deep empathy to their families and the university management; and prays for the repose of their souls,” Aruwan stated.

1st News had reported that the bandits had killed three of the abducted students on Friday; while one staff of the University was killed on Tuesday.

About 23 students as well as staff were abducted from the university campus on April 20.

Meanwhile, an unconfirmed number of students from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, has been abducted at gunpoint “by unknown persons”, the institution confirmed on Monday, April 26.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Benue State University’s Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit (IPPR), Mrs Rosemary Waku.

“The University has reported the incident to the police; and also all relevant security agencies,” Waku stated.

“The Benue University has not heard anything from the students or their captors; since the unfortunate incidence took place.”

The police has also confirmed the abduction.

“The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command has ordered a full-scale investigation into the case,” a statement from police spokesperson, Anene Sewuese, said.

The Benue abduction comes barely a week after about 20 students were abducted from Greenfield University in Kaduna.

Three of the Greenfield University students were found dead on Friday.
