One of the housemates in the on-going BBNaija Pepper Dem season, Khafi faces sack from the Metropolitan Police for participating in the reality show. Khafi was said to have defied her superiors who refused to grant her leave request to participate in the show.
The Met Police has also been left embarrassed by her regular sex romps with a fellow housemate, Gedoni.
Khafi was told not to take part in the 2019 Big Brother Naija reality show. However, the 29-year-old had already been granted unpaid leave. Subsequently, she joined the show.
The UK Sun reports that Khafi has had sex in the BBNaija house on three occasions with Gedoni.
Meanwhile, the Met Police said Khafi was on unpaid leave granted “for an unrelated reason”. Subsequently, she had applied and was refused permission to appear on the show.
A Met spokesman disclosed to the UK Sun that Khafi will face investigation.
“The Met is aware that the officer has since appeared on the show without authority. The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and will be carrying out an investigation into the circumstances.
“The Met does not support the officer’s appearance nor does she represent the Met whilst appearing on the show.
“All officers have a duty to behave with professionalism and in a manner that does not bring the Met into disrepute whether on or off duty.
“Those who do not behave professionally risk breaching police standards of professional behaviour, and may be dealt with by way of misconduct proceedings.”
Khafi, a Police Constable, is highly rated in the Met Police. The Sun notes that she had one stood alongside Met Commissioner Cressida Dick to promote female and black recruitment.
Khafi: High-flying, multi-lingual cop comes under radar as Management threatens to sue UK Sun
She had joined other female officers to celebrate 100 years of women in the Met last November. Khafi reportedly earns about £30,000 a year.
The multi-lingual reality TV star speaks French, Italian and her native Yoruba.
Meanwhile, Khafi’s management has reacted to the publication in the UK Sun. Further, the reality star’s management has also threatened to sue the publication for its alleged defamatory publication.
“At no time did The Sun UK send a mail of inquiry to Khafi’s official email which is blasted across her social media platforms under active management to confirm or refute the claims in the publication.
“Khafi’s side of the story is deliberately and conveniently omitted to sell a pre-conceived narrative while responses from “outraged colleagues” and “other papers” riddle the publication. This comes from a repressive culture of shaming and characterizing women for their sexual decisions and life choices.
“We find The Sun UK’s publication repulsive and damaging to the image and livelihood of our client.
“Khafi is a proud black female police officer who prides herself in her work and has dedicated her youthful years protecting and serving with her many skills which include the ability to speak at least five international languages.
“We demand an immediate retraction of the publication by The Sun UK and a public apology to our client Khafilat Kareem within the next 48 hours. Legal options are also being considered at this time.
The UK Sun had reported that a colleague of Khafi’s had also criticised her decision to participate in the reality show.
“She’s a serving British police officer — it’s outrageous. She asked permission to go on the show but, when her request was refused, she went anyway.
Reality star was inspired to join Force by death of her pal
“Her out-of-office email reply blatantly says that she is away from work, yet no one does anything.
“Other officers working with her are furious that she can just disobey orders then swan off the Africa and tarnish the reputation of the force.”
Another source reportedly told the UK Sun that Khafi had brought the Met Police into disrepute.
“There should be no way back for her from this and her superiors will have to act. It’s hard to see how can she argue that she hasn’t brought the force into disrepute
“She fitted the mould perfectly for how the modern force wants to portray itself but seems to have got a bit too big for her boots.
1ST News reports that Khafi has been one of the most eagerly-followed housemates in the 2019 BBNaija Pepper Dem season. Her romance with Gedoni has been one of the major highlights of the show.
Khafi revealed she was inspired to join the force after school pal Kodjo Yenga, 16, was murdered by a gang. The deceased had strayed on their turf in Hammersmith in 2007.
In addition to her police work, Khafi tweets and writes a travel blog – A Cup of Khafi.
