Lagos is an experience that can only be understood by those who live it every day. The #MyLagosStory event, organized by IfooAfrica and hosted by Joy Isi Bewaji provided an opportunity for Lagosians to come together and share their Lagos stories.
It was laughs, fun and intensive discussions at Colonades Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos where the event took place on Saturday November 11, 2014. The raconteurs shared life stories ranging from managing romantic relationships between the Island and the Mainland to crazy neighbours and being robbed in traffic.
Writer Seun Salami, shocked the audience with an excerpt from his book ‘The Sex Life of a Lagos Mad Woman’ while neo-soul singer Aduke thrilled with her guitar as she had everyone singing along to her Lagos song. The multi-talented Demola Adedoyin was also at the event to read from his personal poetry collection and answer questions from adoring fans. The actor who talked about his journey before October 1 had done a lot of music and part-time modeling while in doing his masters. “When I got back, I continued with the music but then I got an offer from Kunle Afolayan to do film acting. He actually trusted me to do it before I trusted myself,” he said
Roli Afinotan, British Council Thru My Eyes Project finalist, spoke to Sabinews. “I came here thinking it was a literary event, book readings and the like, but I was not in the least bit disappointed. I had so much fun.”
