Nigerian rapper, M.I Abaga has instigated fresh controversy online after reprimanding Akon for calling Wizkid ‘Lil bro’.
On Monday, December 30, Senegalese-American recording artiste Akon shared a photo of himself and Wizkid performing during the ongoing Afronation concert in Ghana. Akon casually referred to Wizkid as his little brother in the photo, however, M.I has taken offence to the title.
He simply rebuked Akon and told him to ‘chill’.
Akon wrote, ‘Me and my lil bro @wizkidayo at AFRONATION Ghana!’
See the photo below.
Moments after the photo surfaced online, M.I Abaga was apparently not impressed with the title. Reacting to the photo, he wrote, ‘OG abeg chill with that lil bro yan’
M.I comes under fire on Twitter
Expectedly, trolls have gradually crept into M.I’s comment section to drag him for his reaction. Most people felt his response on the post was not necessary and he should have simply stayed away from making a comment.
M.I’s comment was not met with positive reviews. 1st News has gathered some of the most reasonable comments on the rapper’s social media.

He said, “I never left music When I first went into Africa, I was building the Afrobeats scene.
When I first went out there in 2008, I was doing everything, I signed Wizkid. Then, I was doing a lot of consulting for a lot of artists there.
“I signed Davido, you know, P Square…” When asked about whether he signed Davido, he said, “Davido, that’s’ my little brother.
Davido is originally from Atlanta and he started his music career actually in Atlanta. He said ‘you know what, there’s too much of a struggle here, let me just go back home.’ He went home and just popped off like this (snaps finger)…”
