Naira Marley: Court drops singer’s theft charges


The car theft charges filed against Nigerian singer, Naira Marley has been dismissed.


On Tuesday, January 14, the charges instigated against Adeyemi Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley; his two brothers and their cousin has been dismissed by a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.


The dismissal order was given by the Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias on Tuesday morning after receiving a settlement agreement between the complainant Mr Adelekan Ademola and the four defendants.


The singer, his two brothers Idris Fashola, 18; Babatunde Fashola, 24; and their cousin, Kunle Obere, 22 were the defendants in the case.

Four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, assault and obstructing the police from arresting the singer was dismissed by Mr Elias.


Marley was absent, but the other defendants were in court.


Naira Marley reacts to car theft allegation

Several months ago after the news went viral online; the characteristically outspoken singer has taken to the microblogging site, Twitter to react to the report.


The rave artiste saw the court order as another means of free publicity. In fact, he mentioned that the authorities cannot stop him; from achieving his dream as the President of Nigeria in the near future.


Here is what he said:

Car theft?? ???? Maybe I need to post my Bentley, Porsche or Benzo. If you lot like, try stain my name from today till tomorrow. I will still be the next president; and who’s Adeyemi Fashola aka Naira Marley.
