A Nigerian man has revealed his decision not to involve himself with internet fraud and online scam has made his relationship come to an abrupt end.
The Nigerian man with the Twitter user name @Ikhuoria narrated the episode on the microblogging site. He mentioned that his girlfriend instigated that he becomes a yahoo boy or she forfeits their relationship, the young man revealed that he refused to comply with her agenda; he instead gave up the relationship.
The young man revealed that he chooses integrity rather than indulging in fraudulent act because he knows what he wants for himself.
Though his salary is meagre, @Ikhuoria stated on the social media that he is no intention in defrauding people to make a living.
In his lengthy thread, the Nigerian man revealed that his ex-girlfriend who bought him a laptop and modem because he did not agree to become a yahoo boy.
@ikhuoria_ who said he thought his then-girlfriend was bluffing when she threatened to end their relationship over his refusal to become a yahoo boy; he revealed that he was surprised when she packed all her things out of his house; including the birthday present she bought for him.
Here is what he wrote on Twitter;
“I remembered when I was dating this girl she bought me a gift on my birthday; when I opened it I saw a laptop and a modem.
As a matter of fact, I was surprised when I saw them.
I had to ask her who are they for?
She told me the reasons she bought them for me is because she’s not happy with my salary.”
In the concluding paragraph, he wrote;
“And also, I should start doing Yahoo (scam).
I told her I can’t do it she said if I didn’t do it she will end the relationship.
To my surprise, she packed all her things out of my house including the birthday present she bought for me.”
Specifically, a yahoo boy is a colloquial term used to refer to an internet fraudster; or someone who executes fraudulent act.
In this part of the world, a handful of Nigerian youths have either contemplated engaging in internet fraudulence or are actively involved in the practice.
Equally important, several internet fraudsters spend a lot of time; researching the company or agency they wish to impersonate.
They will recreate an online auto website or platform similar to that of popular car dealers. After creating the platform, they will target the platform of their prospective victims.
