Nigerian stabbed to death in India

A Nigerian national has been stabbed to death in India.

The incident, which occurred on the night of Sunday, December 12, has resulted in the arrest of three suspects.

Reports monitored by 1st News in the Indian media reveals that the victim was identified simply as Victor, 35. The Nigerian, who resided in Bengaluru, had spent over 10 years in India after emigrating to the country on a business visa and settling here. He had also married a Bengaluru woman.

The identities of the three suspects nabbed by the police for their possible involvement in the murder are Arun, Philip Raj and Neelakantha, all residents of Banaswadi.

SD Sharanappa, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) initially stated that Victor had been killed by a fellow African national who was known to him. However, he later admitted that scientific investigation helped to identify the accused persons, the Indian Express reports.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the suspects have been taken into police custody; while adding that interrogation has commenced and is in preliminary stage. Equally important, Sharanappa had stated that the motive for the killing of the Nigerian remains unclear.

Reports indicate that the incident took place around 10pm near Kullappa circle in Kammanahalli.

A statement released by the Banaswadi police, who had already registered the incident as a murder case, revealed that the suspects had clashed with Victor prior to the incident. Thereafter, the deceased Nigerian was walking on the road when he was attacked. The suspect stabbed him on chest and abdomen before fleeing from the spot.

Subsequently, Victor was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
