Obaseki, Edo State Gov. blows hot, says killers of Sowore must be brought to justice

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his determination to ensure that the killers of Olajide Sowore, are apprehended and brought to book.

He made this known on Saturday, September 4, 2021 while commiserating with the family of the deceased.

1st News reports that the deceased Olajide is the younger brother of Omoyele Sowore; a former Presidential candidate and the publisher of Sahara Reporters, an online news medium.

Obaseki condoled with Sowore over the death of his sibling in a statement released yesterday. Further, he assured that the state government would work with relevant security agencies to unmask the perpetrators.

 “I commiserate with the Sowore family and the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, over the death of his brother, Olajide Sowore. The news of Olajide’s death is heartbreaking…We will make all efforts to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Edo State, I condole with the Sowore family and pray that God will grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the governor wrote.

Meanwhile, 1st News reports that the late younger Sowore was shot dead by yet-to-be identified gunmen on Saturday, September 4, 2021. The incident occurred on the Benin-Ore Expressway. Equally important, his death was disclosed by the senior Sowore, who is also the publisher of Sahara Reporters.

Also, Sowore had revealed that his deceased sibling was studying Pharmacy at the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State where he was coming from when he was murdered on Saturday.

He had made the disclosure via an emotional post on his Twitter page.

“My immediate younger brother, Olajide Sowore, was today shot and killed near Okada in Edo state by reportedly herdsmen/kidnappers on his way from Igbinedion University in Edo State where he is studying Pharmacy.”

“They snuffed out the life yet another real human being! Rest In Power, “Dr. Mamiye!” This act in itself will not delay their day of justice.

“I traveled widely with you and our father as a little kid. You were the most loved, robust kid I ever first knew. You, Mr. magnet had no enemy! And you, Mr. Sunshine Foundation who made everyone happy…,” he had written.

In addition, 1st News can report that pictures of the deceased Sowore’s bullet-riddled car have emerged on social media.

Accordingly, the pictures show a number of bullet holes on the vehicle.
