Oluchi Onweagba, mother of 13-yr-old boy signed by racing company, McLaren speaks

Oluchi Onweagba has taken to social media to celebrate her 13-year-old son, Ugo Ugochukwu who recently signed a deal with the British racing giants, McLaren. 

 

Recall 1st News announced that the teenager struck a developmental deal with McLaren on Monday, March 22. 

 

Specifically, Ugochukwu who represents the United States, has been winning racing awards since he was as young as age 8.

 

Equally  important, he is the first son of supermodel, Oluchi Onweagba.

He has won a slew of titles in the United States and Europe; and most recently won the 2020 FIA OKJ European Championship.

 

This caught the attention of McLaren, the same racing team that signed a young Lewis Hamilton, who has gone on to dominate the world of Formula One.

 

Reacting to her son’s signing, Oluchi Onweagba wrote on Instagram;

 

Thank you GOD! Angels in the heavenlies. Thank you! Watch over your Son. @ugougochukwu It’s beyond us.”

 

 

Ugochukwu also took to Instagram to announce the news, writing;

 

Thank you Mr Zak Brown and the entire Mclaren team for believing in me. Together, we will get there.”

 

Oluchi shares son Ugochukwu with Luca Orlandi, an Italian fashion designer. Together, they have two sons.

 

McLaren describes the move as a multi-year contract with Ugochuku and could tie him to a further multi-year racing deal. Ugochukwu, whose mother is Nigerian and father Italian, won the 2020 FIA OK-Junior European championship and has graduated to the senior class this season.

 

F1 has not had an American driver since Alexander Rossi took part in five races for the Marussia team in 2015.
