The National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it plans to organise a South West stakeholders meeting towards resolving the crisis in the zone, ahead of its zonal congresses.
The PDP said this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan in Abuja on Thursday, April 8.
Ologbondiyan said the NWC had scaled up reconciliation processes in the South West after after an extensive meeting.
“Consequent upon this, the NWC further resolved that a meeting comprising of the national chairman; deputy national chairman; national secretary, Sen. Bukola Saraki-led reconciliation and strategic committee, Gov. Seyi Makinde as well as former Gov. Ayo Fayose, be held immediately for urgent resolution of all issues concerning the South West,” he said.
The PDP had been faced with leadership crisis in the South West over the authentic leader of the party in the zone.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu on Wednesday, April 7, met with the Controller of Correctional Service Lagos State, Mr Francis Adebisi, and top officers in the state.
The Police CP placed the officers on red alert; and also discussed reviewing operational strategies of the command towards forestalling any attacks in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The Police PRO stated that Odumosu engaged the officers in an interactive session; to assess and brainstorm on having better security structures in the state; and to also prevent any attacks on police formations, correctional centres, and vulnerable places within Lagos State.
“The meeting agreed on many strategies to be adopted including robust intelligence gathering; surveillance; sectorising the state for easy policing; constant patrol and deployment of personnel to strategic places; as well as multi-agency collaboration amongst others.
“The police boss gave clear directives to the full implementation and enforcement of the strategies adopted; to achieve the goals of effective security of the state generally,” the statement added.
