
Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike on Thursday, November 17, 2022 praised Peter Obi, a contender for the 2023 presidency, for his accomplishments as the governor of Anambra State.
Peter Obi and Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, were in Rivers State to commision the Ikoku flyover.
In his remarks, Governor Wike chastised Professor Charles Soludo, the current governor of Anambra State; indirectly calling him out for his recent verbal attacks on the Labour Party candidate.
“It’s on record you performed exceptionally well in your State. But some ppl, because of the level you are in now in Nigeria. They’re envying you in your State. They can come and say all sorts of rubbish. but don’t worry, that’s how it is,” Wike said while addressing Obi.
Soludo had on Monday set the internet on fire after releasing a lengthy article, rubbishing the presidential ambition of Obi.
Wike further urged Obi to ignore such attacks, stressing that Nigerians don’t like leaders who are upright.

The governor who believed that some of the attacks on Obi were due to envy, asked those attacking the LP presidential candidate to face their duty.

He said: “You have worked very well in Anambra. But some people because of the level you are now, they are envying you, they can come out and say all manner of rubbish, don’t worry, that is how it is.
“It is your own people that will kill you first, so don’t bother about those things. I have told people, stop criticizing people who have already left. If you are a professor, professor well, if you are a doctor, doctor well.”
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, November 16, condemned what he described as the lopsided appointment of heads of security agencies by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“PDP will form a government of national unity. We will bring members of the opposition who would have lost and then, of course, we will move on from there. This is when only the ways to unify this country and we will now begin to move,” Atiku said during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
“Today, we have 17 heads of various security agencies. All of them come from the North; I will not do that. I will make sure that every geopolitical zone is represented in these security outfits.
”This is also another way you can unify this country and give every part of this country a sense of belonging.”
