Petrol tanker crushes six students to death

Pandemonium has broken out in Effurun, an area in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State; after a petrol tanker crushed six students to death. Reports have confirmed that the tanker was laden with about 45 thousand litres of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol). This rather dark event saw the tanker crush the students who were returning from school along the NPA Expressway near the Army Barracks in Effurun.

Six of the students reportedly died; while an unspecified number of students were trapped.

Immediate response was dispatched to arrest the situation. Men of the Delta State Fire Service were seen trying to quench the fire from spreading; as residents and sympathizers battled to rescue the students who were trapped.

It was gathered that the tanker while on a very high speed, somersaulted; veered off the road; and crushed the students who were standing by the road.
