A Policeman attached to the Bayelsa police command has killed his colleague over N20,000 largesse. It was gathered that the policemen had gone for an operation where they received N20,000 as a gift. Trouble started when the deceased suggested that they give their Divisional Police Officer, DPO, some part of the money but the other policeman refused. As they argued he brought out his gun and shot his colleague, who died immediately.
NAN reports that the deceased, a native of Ondewari community in Southern Ijaw Local Government area of Bayelsa, is survived by two wives and children.
His remains have been deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa.
Sympathizers were seen trooping to the deceased residence at Swali to pay condolences to his family. Some of them, who spoke to NAN, described him as a “jolly good fellow.”
Reacting to enquiries on the incident, the spokesman for the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr Asinim Butswat, said he has not been briefed.
