Presidency reveals Buhari prayed for peace, stability in Nigeria during Umrah

President Muhammadu Buhari has continued his visit to Saudi Arabia with a brief stopover at Madinah where he engaged in prayers, alongside his entourage for peace and security in Nigeria as well as the world at large, according to the Presidency.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 27; by the Senior Special Assistant to the Presidency on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Shehu said the President was earlier received at the Prince Muhammad Abdulaziz Airport, Madinah by the Deputy Governor of the Region, Prince Sa’ud Al-Faisal.

The Presidency aide also added that the President “spent quality time at the Mosque of the Holy Prophet Muhammed, Islam’s second holiest; engaging in prayers and recitation of the Holy Qur’an.”

“President Buhari and the delegation prayed for the well-being of the nation; and its people and for the full restoration of peace and security in Nigerian; and around the globe. Prayers for the economy, ravaged by the pandemic to fully recover for the benefit of the nation; and its people were also offered,” he added.

The President will later proceed to Makkah for the performance of the Umrah (lesser Hajj).

Buhari is in Saudi Arabia for the Future Investment Initiative Institute conference focused on the theme, “Invest in Humanity.”

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Anambra South district in the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, says he will deploy a different method to address the security situation if elected as the governor of the state.

He stated this on Wednesday, October 27, when he featured as a guest on Politics Today; barely two weeks to the November 6 governorship election.

“The security situation in my state has a different method (that) I am going to apply,” the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate said.

“I am going to apply information technology, gathering. My constituency asked me to go; and see how I can proffer political solution to issues that surround Nnamdi Kanu.”

On the way forward, Senator Ubah is proposing a political solution; in dealing with the agitation by the secession agitators.

He recalled how he visited the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) to facilitate Kanu’s release; but was denied access to him.

“Do we love ourselves in this country? If we love ourselves; let us proffer political solutions to so many things, not only Nnamdi Kanu,” the lawmaker said.
