Rema rubbishes comparison with his ‘heroes’

Rema has slammed those who keep comparing him with his mentors and ‘heroes’.

 

The 19-year-old Nigerian recording artiste reveals he no longer wants to compared with those who influenced his career. Taking to social media, the rapper wants naysayers and critics to appreciate his work and desist from placing it alongside those who he grew up listening to.

 

The youngster simply stated comparison is unnecessary.

 

Speaking via his official Twitter handle, he added that afrobeat should rather be celebrated for how popular it has become.

 

Here is what the 19-year-old singer wrote.

 

“My win is YOUR win, Afrobeat is a movement & we need all the support we can get.

The comparisons between me & my heroes are unnecessary, let’s stop bringing down our own.

Let’s celebrate where Afrobeat is at today and focus on where it will be tomorrow, God bless you all.”

A couple of days ago, Canadian rapper, Drake Graham revealed during his Instagram Live session that he has a song recorded with the 19-year-old Afrobeat singer.

 

 

While he was stating this, he played Rema 2019 single ‘Dumebi‘ in the background.

 

Drake said, “Big up Rema too. We have a sick song together…” He then continued playing the song.

Back in 2019, the Nigerian youngster got an OVO hoodie from OVO Honcho, Oliver El-Khatib.

 

Recall the Mavins record youngster was dubbed the leader of the new school generation as he appeared on the cover of Tush magazine.
